The Miami Dolphins are finally starting to get healthy at the right time. For a while there it seemed like things were going down hill for the team but now things seems to be looking up. The report that was floating around right before the Dolphins preseason game against the Falcons that said Branden Albert will be out until week 3 was totally false. Albert practiced today with the first team today and said that he is aiming to play week 1.

Mike Pouncey is also clear to go and was practicing today after being pulled out of the Falcons game with a knee injury. Although it didn’t look to severe the Dolphins took him out of the game and he had an MRI done this morning just to be safe. Pouncey was moving around well in practice (in a brace) and his status for week is not in question. I believe that this was the first time the whole line has played together all offseason. With Albert  coming back the line is complete and ready to go, even though I doubt that Albert will play in the preseason finale on Thursday. Albert’s goal right now is to just get in game shape and try to not have a set back before the season starts. It’s also worth noting that Dallas Thomas played well in the tackle spot with Jason Fox down, we have been hard on him all offseason but he has really come a long way. Thomas will have to keep it up and stay consistent  but so far he has not been the total weakness many of us thought he would be.

DeVante Parker was also out there practicing with the team as I thought he would. Parker is a little more than 3 months out from his surgery and things are looking better and better every day. Coach Philbin was talking about Parker after practice and said that his goal was toz get Parker caught up with the offense and the timing with Ryan Tannehill. Parker has missed so much during his time away that I think 13 days prior to the season will be to soon for him to grasp everything. I doubt that he will start week 1 but I do believe he will play against the Redskins. Parker said that he has no pain in his foot and that he just needs to work on his conditioning. In the spring he and Tannehill looked great together so I believe that the chemistry will be there.

The only starter that was not on the field today was Jamar Taylor. He is still recovering from the quad injury he sustained against the Chicago Bears in week 2 of the preseason. Taylor should be ok but he needs to prove to be more durable than he has been. I wrote last night that Tim Jennings a 2X Pro Bowl corner is out on the market and the Dolphins can look into that if they are interested. Taylor has been playing well but the Dolphins secondary is short on depth and Will Davis from what I have read is on the bubble to make the roster. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next few days with this. Taylor should be back soon and all will be well but I’m just letting you guys know that we the Fins do have options.
